WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DECOMMISSIONING?

Underground storage tanks (USTs) and aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) are most commonly used to store gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil and other various chemicals. It is important to note that these storage tanks have a regulated lifespan. Once they pass the designated lifespan, they are more prone to leaking, which causes environmental concerns and the need to take action. That is where KG Services comes in. Under the Liquid Fuels Handling Code (LFHC) and the Fuel Oil Code (FOC), all underground storage tanks must lawfully be removed within 2 years of disuse. An environmental assessment by a licensed engineer is required with the application. As per Ontario TSSA Regulation 213/01 and 217/10 under the liquid fuels handling code regulation.

OUR DECOMMISSIONING PROCESS

Our decommissioning services include underground and above ground storage tank removal (UST/AST), former fuel outlet deconstruction, oil water separator service and replacement, underground hoist removal, facility closures, well decommissioning and in place UST tank closure.
